~*~ Always ~ Bon Jovi ~*~
As Always
I reach out to touch the passing gentle breeze,
And the breeze dances beyond my reach
Playfully caressing the tall, silent trees
Betraying their thoughts in whispering leaves.
I watch sunlight on the ocean waves reflect
And I yearn for the kiss of her warm light.
But the waves firmly demand respect
Cresting, breaking, push me back to the shore
I see the meadow flowers in their gentle dance
And yearn to join their graceful sway,
To throw caution to the whims of chance,
But knowing they are delicate, I am held away.
For so long now I have been on this journey
Seen so many of life’s silent truths
Sought to understanding to be free
And find strength fails, a cruel limit of age,
Ahead I am awed by the wonders before me,
So much to behold and to learn,
Out of reach like a distant beauty
Taunting, you are too young and small.
So I remain, as old as time, ever here
Walking the path of always,
Like dawn when it does first appear,
Young and new, the path all before me
