Mirror, Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall The chant, how well we know But when we gaze upon her face Is truth what she will show? Oh, cold reflection in her eyes, Is this what others see? Need I repair the reflection there, To create a better me? But as I wonder on this And think of those in my life I realize they each see me In very a different light Then I think of those I love, And I know what I see there Is colored by their heart and soul, Not the image they may bear So when you seek your visage Please know the mirror lies When in doubt of who you are Look into your loved ones’ eyes. © Candace 6/22/09 Return to Poetry Index
