She walked the path chosen in her distant past
To try and please the one who found so much about her wrong
Fit in, be like others, be their measure of success.
In the darkness of their world don’t sing too loud her song

Fit their patterns and be serious and solemn
There is no magic in their world, those are childish thoughts
Strive for gain and knowledge on the ledger’s pages
Guard your till; stand steady against this world’s onslaughts

In the grayness of this world she longs to hear music
She feels the absence of color dimming happiness and dreams
Avoid the pitfalls of compassion, no place for the meek
Know that wealth is what this world strives for and esteems

So she hides her wings, her heart, and her soul
Tries to be what is expected, as inch by inch she dies within
Clinging to life’s shadows, hoping not to be noticed
Reach imperfectly to fulfill what’s expected by him

Then another stands before her, holds out open arms
Saying spread your wings and fly, be who you’re meant to be
Allow your heart to sing and love the colors of life
Allow your soul’s compassion to set the magics free

The grayness of the world his love did disperse
And he drew her to the light with rainbow skies above
He said just be yourself, special and unique
Make this world a better place with compassion, hope, and love

O’re time he did encourage her, to follow her own star
And he helped her to stand tall and find out who she was
Now their souls do dance together beneath starry velvet skies
Glistening in the glow found in a Papa’s pride and love
