The Heart Whispers

Photobucket

Barely past ponytails, ribbons and curls,
Sleepless slumber parties, giggling with friends
He’s just a boy, loud, rough, and untidy.
But the heart whispers “Wait, see where this ends”

Debutant balls, ball rooms and gowns,
Feeling like princess if only for one night
Floating on air as if in a faerie-tale
The heart whispers “Dare to let love take flight”

Moon lit walks witnessed only by night sprites,
Days spent on hillsides covered in heather
Dreams shared in sun-dappled flower filled meadows
The heart whispers “Can this be forever?”

A storybook day filled with music and flowers,
Loving vows said in a gown of snow white
Promises made to love, honor, and cherish.
The heart whispers “Know the future is bright”

Long sleepless nights, pace as the baby cries,
A warm happy home now striving to build,
Each day is a struggle just to hold on.
The heart whispers “Promises will be fulfilled”

Time passes swiftly, love is steady and strong,
Life’s storms are weathered, races are run,
Looking back where the journey has traveled
The heart whispers “It has only begun”

Ebony hair, now softly silver
Watching the meadows quiet and sun swept,
As the night sprites dance in the moonlight
The heart whispers “The promise has been kept'

But a new journey will begin hand in hand
Filled with incomprehensible beauty
As love floats the heavens' star fields,
The heart whispers “Now we share eternity'
