WHY

Ecclesiastes 3 A Time for Everything
1. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2. a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3. a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4. a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5. a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6. a time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7. a time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8. a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
The Holy Bible: King James Version. 2000.

For everything in our lives there is a reason, a season, or a lifetime
– it is not ours to define what category anything falls into.
Everything in our lives falls under these three categories
– from the most insignificant and mundane item we encounter
to people in our lives,
there is a reason, a season, or a lifetime.

For in the times of our lives all is mapped out
we have only to accept that one wiser than we are holds us close
and will in the end see us safely home.

i step upon the path set for me, i know it was mapped out with love,
i accept that i cannot always comprehend the why or see the plan
but i trust in the love of the one i know who watches and cares for me
and i know if i trust that there is no storm that i will not withstand

I started upon a walk one bright day
Just to greet the dawning sun
And i happened upon a fallen limb
Trapping a small frightened one

So i worked to untangle the branches
Trying to free the small one with care
I knew we likely may not meet again
This one's freedom was why i was there

A bit farther along the path I did stop
At a garden I went to and daily did tend
The end of the season was now closing in
And it saddened me to know it would end

But the lessons I learned in that garden
The patience and the wonder and to care
Would remain long past the last blossom
The garden’s lessons were why I was there

As the sun drew a close to the day’s walk
I returned to one I hold dear
One I will walk with for my lifetime
One who helps me to see life so clear

As I think on the path we have shared
And the lessons and love that we share
And I know we will walk on together
And life’s lessons are why we are there.
