SILENT TRUTHS

Silent Truths

Our lives are like a large house
each new experience adding to the structure,
sometimes a small room, sometimes a lovely suite or a grand open space,
sometimes a beautiful garden.
Each addition is a truth in our life
It is the each person's right to choose which to leave open to be shared,
which to keep closed and held private,
and which to lock and walk away from
For each that choice is theirs and theirs alone, all others are guests in that house

Silent Truths

In the house that is my life there are many rooms,
Many fragrant gardens and quiet tranquil trails.
So i open my heart and i bid you to be welcome
And all that is open, you may know without veils.

Those places with doors that are closed i hold private
And those places held private i would ask to be left be
With those few i hold closest i may choose to share
Or it may be a private place where i allow no one but me

Some doors are locked on long darkened rooms
To cobweb filled spaces i've tried hard to forget
Or to overgrown gardens i’ve walled off with care
These are places where even my foot does not set

You think that you know me for i’ve let you in
So much of who i am i have let you wander free
Yes you know me well and what you know is true
But you can only know the parts of me i let you see

Sighs

In the spaces between the words in the silence
Are the words that others seem not to hear
The words of a soul crying out to be seen
The words that tell of love, hope, and fear.

The quiet shy hi that asks do you see me
The no that pleads please hear me cry yes
The i'm fine that says i am in so much pain
The it's nothing that only wants to confess

We must learn to listen with more than our ears
To see we must look with more than our eyes
We must try to feel with more than our hands
Then we’ll know what is in the whispering sighs
